69th Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade | 9-10AM
Downtown Houston | 901 Bagby St, Houston, Texas 77002
“The Houston Thanksgiving Day Parade began in 1949, when Santa arrived at Union Station and rode in his sleigh to the downtown Foley’s. This 69-year-old holiday tradition showcases Houston’s arts and cultural communities while entertaining thousands of parade-goers with colorful high- flying balloons, artistic floats, marching bands, dancers, costumed characters and more!
Join us again this year as we embrace the holiday spirit on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at 9:00am with the 69th Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade.

“This holiday season, historic downtown Galveston will be illuminated by lighting and decor encompassing the main corridors of this charming 36-block district.
Downtown Lanterns & Lights will feature a magical display of lights and other holiday-themed attractions in Saengerfest Park and beyond, including an interactive photo frame and a giant snow globe for visitors to enjoy on designated weekends.
Lights will stretch throughout downtown from 20th to 25th streets on The Strand as well as along 23rd and Postoffice streets.
In addition, visitors will find unique holiday gifts at the district’s many boutiques, art galleries and antique shops set among beautiful Victorian architecture.
This is a free public event.”

“For over 25 years, the Galveston Art Center has produced ArtWalk on Saturday nights in the heart of the historic district. Now spreading to other parts of the Island, ArtWalk occurs approximately every six weeks. Not a street festival, ArtWalk takes place in existing commercial galleries, non-profit arts spaces and what are called “other walls”—restaurants and retail stores.

“Enjoy a free holiday photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus! Photos will take place in the lobby of 16190 City Walk, Sugar Land, TX 77479.  Since it is the season of giving, we will be collecting new and unwrapped stuffed animals for the Fort Bend Rainbow Room’s Christmas Project. All donations will go to children & adults referred by caseworkers from TX Dept of Family & Protective services. Also, drop your letter to Santa in his mailbox and get a return letter in the mail for a donation of $5.
In order to allow Santa to get back to the North Pole on time, the last photo will be taken at 5 pm. Please arrive before then to secure your spot in line. Thank you for understanding during his busiest time of year.”

The ICE powered by Green Mountain Energy | Open Daily through Jan. 27th
Discovery Green | 1500 McKinney, Houston
“This November, The ICE returns, powered by Green Mountain Energy Company. The ICE is the largest outdoor ice skating surface in the Southwest. Discovery Green uses water from Kinder Lake to freeze the ice, and all equipment runs on Green Mountain Energy’s renewable energy, ensuring The ICE is environmentally friendly and sustainable.
The ICE opens on Friday, November 16 and will be open daily through Sunday, January 27, 2019. Admission is $11 per person or $10 for the online fast past, plus $4 for skate rental.”

Open House | Daily from dawn until dusk through February 2019
Sam Houston Park| 1000 Bagby Street, Houston
Open House is an interactive temporary public sculpture created by local artists, Dan Havel and Dean Ruck. Sourced from Cherry House Moving Company, the 1940s-era house has circular holes into the walls creating a “Swiss cheese” appearance, and collaged interior walls with vintage images sourced from family, friends and local resale shops that represent the city’s people, places and past. Visitors can walk through Open House, soaking in some of Houston’s history while viewing both the modern skyscrapers of Downtown Houston and the landscape of Sam Houston Park through the holes that have been carved out of the house.
